How are Leap Years Handled?
A standard calendar year implies exactly 365 days. However, the Earth takes roughly 365.24 days to orbit the sun. To keep our calendar aligned with astronomical seasons, a Leap Year containing an extra day (February 29) is added every 4 years.
If you calculate the duration from January 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024, the calculator will return exactly 365 days. But if you calculate the same duration from January 1, 2024, to January 1, 2025 (passing through the 2024 leap year), the calculator intuitively adds the intercalary day, outputting exactly 366 days.
End Date Inclusivity Rule
By default, date calculators measure the duration or distance between two days. This means the final day is typically excluded from the mathematical count. For example, the difference between Monday, the 1st, and Tuesday, the 2nd, is 1 day. If you are charging daily rent for a hotel or equipment, you may need to check the "Include End Date" or "Add 1 Day" logic manually depending on your specific billing cycle.
